Police have arrested someone suspected of murder in connection with a woman's death near the Wiltshire border.

Thames Valley Police have confirmed that a man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman died in Faringdon.

The arrest was made after police were called to a property at around 1.35pm in Russ Avenue, Faringdon on Tuesday, February 6.

"Her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by officers.

"At this time her death is being treated as unexplained.

"A 52-year-old man, known to the woman, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and has been released on bail.

"Investigating officer, Detective Inspector Ian D’Angeli, said: “We are carrying out a thorough investigation to establish what has happened and are keeping an open mind.

“Although a man has been arrested on suspicion of murder, we would like to ask the public not to speculate about the circumstances as the investigation is at an early stage.
