The reason why drivers faced delays along the M4 in Swindon has been revealed by Wiltshire Police.
At around 1pm on Monday, February 12, cars were forced to stop on the carriageway near Junction 15 for Swindon.
There was approximately half a mile of queues along the motorway on the westbound carriageway near Junction 15 in Swindon, but this was quickly resolved and traffic returned to normal within around half an hour.
The Adver approached Wiltshire Police for an explanation behind the sudden traffic which built up.
A spokesperson said: “This relates to live swans in the carriageway. They were safely caught.”
The traffic had built up approximately a mile west of Junction 15, Badbury Roundabout.
