A Swindon man threatened to kill his bedbound dad after demanding money from him, it has been alleged.

Lee Mapstone Junior, 23, allegedly broke into his dad's home in Downton Road, on February 15, yelling "give me money".

Mapstone Junior, of Tudor Walk, denied charges of assault causing actual bodily harm, attempted robbery and criminal damage at a hearing at Swindon Magistrates Court on Monday.

Prosecutor Charles Nightingale told the court that the defendant's father, Lee Mapstone Senior, was bed-bound and sleeping at the time of the incident.

“Mr Mapstone Senior woke to find the defendant standing over him, standing on his leg, demanding money and punching him in the head," said Mr Nightingale.

“He shouted at his father ‘give me money’. The complainant couldn’t get away because he was bedbound and the defendant said ‘I will kill you if you don’t give me money’.

“The father said he had never seen the defendant so angry.”

Mapstone Junior is also accused of punching a hole in a bedroom door before smashing a window while leaving the home after assaulting his father.

Defending Mapstone Junior, Mark Glendenning said: “Mr Mapstone Junior says the assault didn’t happen. He makes no plea."

The 23-year-old has been remanded in custody ahead of his next hearing at Swindon Crown Court on March 22, where he is expected to enter a plea.
