Police arrested four people after discovering thousands of pounds of suspected stolen goods in the suspects' car.

Officers stopped a Volkswagen Golf near Greenbridge shortly after 3pm on Tuesday after receiving reports which suggested that the vehicle was linked to several thefts.

They found a haul of grills, hair straighteners, UV lights, chocolate, and beauty products inside the car.

The people from London who have been arrested on suspicion of theft – three women aged 15, 28 and 37, respectively, and a 28-year-old man - were taken into custody at Gablecross Police Station.

The 15-year-old has since been released on bail, while the other three suspects remain in custody for further questioning.

Some of the items, which are thought to have been stolen from stores around the area, have been returned to their rightful owners but there is still a large number of unaccounted-for goods which police are trying to return to businesses.

These include two brand new SALTER grills, brand new GHD hair straighteners, brand new UV LED lights, many boxes of Ferrero Rocher, and a lot of miscellaneous high-quality make up and skin care products.

A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: "If any store can account for these items or believe they may have been victim of a high value shop theft in recent days, please call 101 and quote 54240020248.

"Enquiries are ongoing."
