A car was split in half by a crash with a coach on the A303. 

Two men were hospitalised by the incident that saw one vehicle separated into two parts, but miraculously escaped with their lives. 

The crash happened around 10.45am on Thursday, February 22, on the A303 near Chicklade.

Police and an air ambulance from Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance Service were in attendance.

The car, a Toyota Rav4, split in half upon impact, with the Wiltshire Specialist Ops Twitter page sharing photos of both pieces of the written-off vehicle. 

In the post, Wiltshire Special Ops said: "Amazingly only a fractured leg to the occupant."

A police spokesperson said: "At around 10.45am this morning we responded to a collision between a coach and a car on the A303 near Chicklade.

"The driver of the vehicle, a man in his 70s, was taken to hospital with leg injuries.

"The driver of the coach, a man in his 40s, was taken to hospital as a precaution.

"The road was closed to allow for recovery and has since reopened."
