A bar has finally opened at one of Swindon's busiest nightspots.
American-themed sports bar Route 66 officially opened at 2pm on Saturday, February 24, on Wood Street in Old Town.
It was almost immediately filled with dozens of sports fans gathering to watch the day's action, including Premier League football and the Six Nations rugby.
Large TV screens fill almost every wall inside the new venue, which replaced Woodys after its closure last year.
The manager of the bar was approached to speak about the grand opening however declined to speak to the Adver.
Route 66 is now one of many bars along Wood Street which has become a busy and popular place for nightlife in Swindon.
The Kings Arms, the Bank and Mackenzies Bar & Kitchen are on the opposite side of the road, facing the new America sports bar.
Brass Monkey operated out of 25 Wood Street before undergoing a short-lived relaunch as Woodys last year.
This initial revamp took place over three weeks, with staff still scrambling to get the venue ready in time for the grand opening on Friday, February 10, 2023.
The renovation was said to have cost £150,000 but after a period of months, signs were put in the window announcing it was closed again for 'essential maintenance' from which it never reopened.
Woodys then closed and has now become Route 66.
