A landslip has disrupted Swindon trains.

GWR has confirmed that the section of track affected is between London Paddington and Reading, blocking all lines.

The effects of this freak incident mean that trains running to and from these stations will be cancelled, delayed or revised.

The disruption is expected until the end of the day.

Network Rail advises that there has been a landslip in the Sonning area, between Twyford and Reading, which has caused a lineside tree to become unsafe.

This means that as well as all services operating between London and Reading, services from the West Country via Taunton/Westbury/Newbury and Reading, Bristol Temple Meads, South Wales, North Cotswolds route from Hereford /Worcester and Gloucester/Cheltenham Spa are impacted as well.

Elizabeth Line services are also affected.

A spokesperson for GWR said: "Please accept our apologies for any delay to your journey, as a result of this incident.

"If you arrive at your destination 15 or more minutes late because your GWR train was delayed or cancelled, you can claim Delay Repay compensation."
