More than 100 rule-breaking drivers were caught by police and the Community Speedwatch teams during a day of action on Swindon's roads.
On Tuesday, February 27, community volunteers joined with police officers from North East and Rural Swindon Neighbourhood Team and the Road Policing Unit to lie in wait on several major roads across the town.
The A419, Thamesdown Drive, and roads in Wanborough, Blunsdon and Highworth were particularly targeted, following concerns from residents.
In just one day, the speed enforcement team recorded more than 101 criminal offences on Swindon’s roads, while the Road Policing Unit detected a further 32.
Officers say the total number of recorded offences on Tuesday is expected to be even higher as data in some areas is still being finalised.

Among these offences, 29 drivers have been ordered to conduct speed courses as a result of their dangerous driving, and four drivers have been fined £100 and will receive three points on their licence.
“One BMW on Thamesdown Drive in Swindon tonight thought he was on the M4," said a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police.
"Recorded at 70mph in a 40mph limit. Driver reported and a day in court booked. The limit is 40 for a reason.”
Patrols also targeted other ‘fatal five’ driving offences which include drink/drug driving, speeding, using a mobile phone, failing to wear a seatbelt and driving while distracted.
A second community day of action with volunteers will be held in June, but Wiltshire Police warned its road units will continue regular speeding checks.
