Improvements to footpaths and tracks at a country park in Swindon have finally been completed after renovation work.
Mouldon Hill Country Park, situated just off Thamesdown Drive, features several footpaths and walkways along with a free car park, making it a popular walking location for families and dog walkers in Swindon.
But the park, owned by Swindon Borough Council and managed by Haydon Wick Parish Council, has been in need of repair for some time as the pathways were not up to standard or easily accessible.
Council officials say they hope the improvements put in place will now make the park more accessible and improve the experience for runners, trail walkers, and fishing enthusiasts.
"If you’ve visited Mouldon Hill Country Park recently you may have seen that work has been taking place to improve the paths, tracks and car park," said a spokesperson for Swindon Borough Council.
"Footpaths around the lake have been repaired and improved and work has also been carried out to improve access to the fishing jetties for local anglers.
"Over the coming weeks, the car park and pathway leading into the park will also be improved.
"If you’re visiting the park over this time, please be aware of the ongoing upgrades and we thank you for your patience at this time."
Councillor Chris Watts, Cabinet Member for the Environment and Transport, added: “Our country parks are some of the best places in Swindon and are well loved by residents and visitors.
“In order to make sure they continue to be loved and used, we need to make sure they’re well maintained and improved where we can.
“I’m very pleased to see the work happening at Mouldon Hill that will make the park more accessible to those with mobility issues as well as improving the area for walkers and runners.
“We’re working on plenty of plans for our country parks, including a splash park replacement at Coate Water, so keep an eye out for more news in the near future.”
