A new cakery is set to open its doors this month, with its owner hoping it will become a staple of Highworth.

Chloe’s Cakery has announced it will launch at 9am on March 23 in the town's High Street.

Owner Chloe Hayward said: “I see myself doing this for the rest of my life, I want this bakery to become a staple on the High Street."

The bakery and café will be trading from the building formerly used by the Lighthouse Book Shop.

Chloe, 23 began baking and selling baked goods from her parents' kitchen before the coronavirus pandemic.

She has continued selling a range of baked goods to order, which customers can request through her social media.

Chloe will be working alongside her partner and her brother when she opens the business. Her dad has been her unofficial business partner in setting up the shop and her grandparents have helped with the construction.

She explained that there is still work to do but the renovation of the old book shop is nearly there.

Chloe hopes to be able to hand the business down to her children one day and says it is something she is committed to for life.

She decided to include indoor seating after the idea received a positive response from the public.

Chloe said: “I want it to be passed down from generation to generation, it means a lot to me that it is a family businesses and not just a random chain on the high street.

“I am hoping this becomes a High Street staple, I would love to open some other locations in the  in the Cotswolds, I don’t plan on this being a quick ten year plan, I plan on this being the rest of my life.

"I don’t see myself giving it up after the lease.

“There isn’t really anywhere you can go and have coffee and go and do some work and read a newspaper.

"I am just so excited."
