A pub in Shrivenham has said that it will be closing next month with an emotional message released on its social media.

Staff at The Crown, in High Street, have said that they will be permanently closed in just several weeks.

The pub describes itself as a small bistro-style restaurant and has a 4.7-star review on Google.

A spokesperson from the pub said in a Facebook post: “We are sorry to announce that The Crown will be closed from April 1, 2024. 

“Until then we are trading as normal to give our customers a chance to utilise outstanding gift vouchers and have a farewell meal.

“Thank you to you all. It’s going to be emotional saying goodbye and we look forward to seeing some familiar faces throughout the next few weeks.”

The post was met with some sadness by fans of the establishment, with one saying: “Oh no! We have enjoyed so many lovely meals with you and also brought many visitors too. who have equally enjoyed eating at The Crown - we will really miss having you in the village. 

“All the best for whatever the future has in store.”
