At least one Swindon McDonald’s was forced to shut this morning due to a technical issue.
The branch in the town centre reported that it was forced to completely close for 30 minutes at 7am this morning.
McDonald’s restaurants around the UK and Ireland were hit by a major IT issue on the morning of 15 March causing nationwide closures.
The restaurant has now reopened and resumed trading, with other Swindon McDonald’s also open as usual.
The website, Downdetector, had reports submitted of problems with the app and website, and in-house IT.
It reports the issue as also occurring in Australia, Japan, New Zealand, Sweden, Germany and Austria.
One person tried to see the bright side, commenting on the site: “McDonalds New Zealand, Australia and Japan are unable to take orders due to an IT error.
“What a great time to go support your local fish and chip shop, or restaurant!”
A spokesperson from McDonald’s Australia said in a statement it is "aware of a technology outage currently impacting our restaurants nationwide and are working to resolve this issue as soon as possible".
They apologised to customers for the inconvenience caused.
