Work is currently underway to fix a burst water main that flooded several major roads in West Swindon

The flooding started sometime during the early hours of Friday morning and left both Mead Way and Great Western Way looking like 'rivers'.

Workers can be seen at the Meads roundabout which is where the source of the flooding originated, trying to resolve the issue.

A Thames Water spokesperson has apologised for the inconvenience caused.

They said: “We’re sorry for the disruption caused by a large burst water main on Mead Way in Swindon this morning.

"The main has been shut in and the water is starting to drain away.

"Our engineers are starting to repair the pipe and we’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible.”

At roughly 10am, there were several construction vehicles at the roundabout, and two diggers being operated which could be seen digging into the road.

A large pool of water remained in the immediate area of the roundabout with cones blocking it off from traffic, but flooding detritus could be seen along Mead Way and Great Western Way.

It is not yet known when the area might reopen to traffic.
