The following cases were heard at Swindon Magistrates' Court earlier this week.

OLD TOWN: Nina Austin, of Victoria Road, has been sentenced for theft from a shop.

The 45-year-old pleaded guilty to taking a coat worth £79.99 from Superdry in the Great Western Outlet Village between March 1 and 14, 2024, and pleaded guilty to damaging a window of a Swindon address on December 9, 2023.

She has been jailed for 28 days due to the seriousness of the offences committed and because of her flagrant disregard for court orders.

PEATMOOR: Salvatore Granato has been sentenced for causing actual bodily harm.

The 52-year-old indicated a plea of guilty to assaulting a woman in Swindon on August 13, 2023.

He received a 20-week prison sentence which has been suspended for 18 months and must carry out up to 20 rehabilitation activity days as well as pay £85 in court costs plus £154 to fund victim services.

TOWN CENTRE: Ashley Lane, of Station Road, has been sentenced for theft from a shop and causing actual bodily harm.

The 37-year-old indicated pleas of guilty to assaulting a man and stealing chilled products from Morrisons Daily in Swindon on August 30, 2023 and She has been jailed for 18 weeks due to the seriousness of the offences, the defendant’s repeat offending on supervision and previous record, and must also pay £200 in compensation to the ABH victim.

MOTORWAY: Michael Walsh, of Waterloo Street in Cheltenham, has been sentenced for a driving offence.

The 50-year-old pleaded guilty to driving a Ford Transit which was towing a trailer on the right hand/offside lane of the eastbound M4 near Swindon on May 8 while all three lanes were open for use.

He received three penalty points on his driving licence and a £72 fine, and must also pay £29 to fund victim services.

STRATTON: Matthew Brown, of Ermin Street, has been sentenced for using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm, and distress.

The 36-year-old pleaded guilty to committing the offence against a police officer in Swindon on August 15, 2023.

He has been fined £440.

OAKHURST: Akosua Konadu, of Southwold Close, has been sentenced for driving offences.

The 42-year-old drove a Peugeot 206 along Southwold Close without insurance or a valid licence on August 6, 2023.

He received a £216 fine and six penalty points on his driving licence, and must also pay £86 to fund victim services.

SWINDON: Jose Labanca, of Tennyson Street, has been sentenced for driving offences.

The 52-year-old changed his plea from not guilty to guilty regarding a charge of driving a Peugeot 107 along Great Western Way without insurance or a licence on August 4, 2023.

He received a £300 fine and six penalty points on his driving licence, and must also pay £90 in court costs as well as £120 to fund victim services.

LIDDINGTON: John Mazurkiewicz, of Orchard Rise in Bristol, has been sentenced for speeding.

The 72-year-old drove a Vauxhall Corsa through Liddington at more than 30mph and without a valid licence on September 26, 2023.

He received three penalty points on his driving licence and a £72 fine, and must also pay £29 to fund victim services.

ROYAL WOOTTON BASSETT: Joseph Chiteza, of Cricketers Close, has been sentenced for driving offences.

The 60-year-old drove a Citroen C4 along Purley Road without insurance or a licence on June 18, 2023.

He received six penalty points on his driving licence and a £266 fine, and must also pay £90 in court costs plus £106 to fund victim services.
