A Wiltshire brewer has launched a new craft beer to mark the start of operations at its £8 million brewery.

Devizes brewery and pub company Wadworth officially opened its new Folly Road brewhouse last September after moving from the historic Northgate Street site.

Now the first craft beer has come out of the state-of-the-art facility as Wadworth takes advantage of the move by rolling out the Folly Road craft beer brand.

The ability to brew new types of beers is a feature of the new premises, which managing director Toby Bartholomew says is more flexible and efficient than the Northgate brewery.

Evolution is a vegan friendly, 4.3 per cent Session IPA which the brewers say has a “refreshing, punchy, crisp bitterness and bags of intense citrus flavour and aroma.”

“We’ve launched Folly Road craft beer to maximise our new brewhouse and broaden our portfolio into the growing craft keg market, creating a larger and more interesting range of beers for our pubs”, said head of marketing Sarah Berry.

She added: “Our overall vision is to continue to be an independent family brewer and pub company, leaving a legacy and brewing Wadworth traditional ales and Folly Road craft beers for generations to come.”

Evolution is available in 40 pubs, including many in Wiltshire, and can be bought in cans online.
