A new café has opened in Swindon.

Brew Book on Beechcroft Road in Stratton welcomed its first customers on Saturday with an array of sweet treats and Easter activities, marking the end of a months-long process to set up a café inside Beechcroft Library.

Stratton St Margaret Parish Council asked interested businesses to pitch ideas about how they would transform part of the facility.

Councillors picked 35-year-old Hannah Fruen’s concept as their favourite and soon got to work on making it a reality.

Hannah previously told the Adver that she wanted to make it a 'café for the community' by serving food and drink at affordable prices, showcasing local businesses and hosting small events such as dessert nights dry clay-making evenings, and paint parties.

Swindon Advertiser: The cafe will offer a full menu from Tuesday morning

Traders supplying their wares include Pete’s Micro Bakery and florist Connie Lou.

The café will offer a full menu from 9am on Tuesday, April 2.

Parish councillor Tom Butcher said: “So pleased to see the new cafe open in Beechcroft Library.

“This is the culmination of lots of hard work by Stratton St Margaret Parish Council officers, Brew Book staff and the fantastic Hannah Fruen.

“Having chaired the property committee and working groups on the parish for the last few years, I’m extremely proud to see this come to life.

“Come down and check it out.”
