Plans for new signage at a major retail and entertainment park in Swindon have been given the go ahead.

Bosses at Greenbridge Retail Park in east Swindon now have the green light to change the signs at the park.

And the new signs will feature a new colour, sky blue, for the first time, to distinguish between the shopping and leisure parts of the complex, which has a Vue cinema, Buzz Bingo hall and restaurants as well as shops like Boots, Next and Smyths Toys.

The branding for the complex will also be slightly different, with two distinct names.

The large graphite grey and ‘cyan’ blue totems will be branded ‘Greenridge Shopping Park’ and list the stores available to visitors.

The signs in lime green will be branded 'Greenbridge Leisure Park' and list facilities such as the cinema and nearby eateries, and a health centre.

Signs for trolleys and exits from the car park will also carry the shopping park’s branding and blue colour.

Giving approval for the plans, Swindon Borough Council’s planners said: “The majority of the signage is to be sited within the retail park itself which is a significant visitor destination and would be viewed in the context of the large-scale retail unit buildings and as such would not appear unduly out of keeping.

“With regard to the large entrance totem signs; these would replace existing substantial advertisement totem structures and, in this context, they would not appear unduly prominent.”
