The English poet and professor Geoffrey Hill once said: "Public toilets have a duty to be accessible, poetry does not."

He certainly has a point. If you travel somewhere, especially a town or city, being able to use the 'facilities' is important. Research has shown public toilets are an important infrastructure for inclusive, accessible, and sustainable places

They benefit the able-bodied, the disabled, pregnant women, and more. And in Swindon, it turns out there are 13 public toilets people can go to do their... business.

A full map of public toilets in the town can be found at the Great British Toilet Map here

According to the map, in the northern part of Swindon, there are two toilets in the Orbital Shopping Park, just off Thamesdown Drive. One is at the centre's Marks and Spencer and the other is at North Swindon library.

Moving more centrally, there is a public toilet just next to the Co-op on Chapel Street, another at Swindon railway station, and a separate one in the Designer Outlet shopping centre off Kemble Drive.

Just south of the railway tracks, there is a public toilet on Queen Street, near Catherine Street car park, one by Wharf Green, and another just off York Road and at the northern tip of Queens Park.

To finish up, there are public toilets at Morrison's supermarket off Dorcan Way, and then further south there is one in the Shell garage on Marlborough Road, and another near the Ugly Duckling Cafe and the northernmost point of Coate Water.

Be warned, there is a toilet icon on Toilet Map close to the junction of Evelyn Street and Marlborough Road but that is closed and has been for 'quite some time'.
