A Swindon pub and nightclub which was boarded up earlier this year, is now set to reopen with new management, a new look and some fantastic new events.

Swindon locals were devastated when The Rolleston Arms on Commercial Road closed its doors at the beginning of this year in January, less than a year after it had been taken over by a new landlord.

Pictures of the pub and adjoining nightclub Level 3 have shown that the two venues have been a big part of Swindon's nightlife and entertainment offerings for many years.

But now a team of three new ambitious managers are preparing to reopen the venue in late April, hoping to revive the town's alternative music and club scene.

Swindon couple Craig Waters and Charlotte Thornton, who have previously worked in the events industry, will run the pub and nightclub alongside Craig's mum Carol Waters, who has managed several pubs in and around Swindon in the past.

Although the trio have emphasised that the feel of The Rolleston Arms and Level 3 nightclub that Swindon has come to know and love will remain the same, they have ambitious plans to make visual and practical changes.

"We put in an application because we saw they were looking for new management in January, and they really liked our fresh ideas and plans to revive the place. There are a lot of changes we want to make," said Charlotte.

"We're completely redoing the pub itself and the club will be different looks wise, as well as being renamed from Level 3 to just 'Levels'.

"It will visually be different but as far of the feel of the place we still want to keep that and still have it as a place for live alternative music.

"Where before it was mostly used for alternative rock and metal music, we're hoping to bring in a whole range of alternative music genres and events to keep the place alive.

"Swindon's not really a big enough town to just do one genre all the time so we're hoping to have all different types of alternative music, just anything except your pop radio tunes really," she added.

Charlotte, Craig and Carol were given the keys only two weeks ago and say that they hope to get The Rolleston Arms up and running within two to three weeks.

"Definitely by the end of April," Charlotte added.

"Hopefully Levels will then open shortly after that."
