New owners have snapped up the former home of a shoe shop in Swindon's town centre.

Shoe Zone once occupied 61 Regent Street before the business relocated to different premises on the same street as part of the Brunel Shopping Centre last summer.

Kilpatrick & Co then put the 2,679 sq ft space up to let in January and have since agreed a contract with new owners after asking for rent of £52,000 per annum.

Julia's House is currently fitting out the property to get it ready to open on May 2.

The children's hospice provides practical and emotional support to families in Wiltshire and Dorset who are caring for a child with a life-limiting or life-threatening condition.

The good cause organised a first-of-its-kind art trail around Swindon last year which raised more than £165,000.

Assistant area retail manager, Luke Fisher, said: “We're now at the exciting stage of transforming our Swindon shop’s interior and sorting thousands of items for our grand opening.

“We hope everyone will support us by volunteering in store, donating their pre-loved goods, and shopping for new favourite items."

Anyone wishing to volunteer can pop in from 10am to 1pm on April 25, email volunteering@juliashouse.org or call 01202 644220.
