A quadbike worth £4,000 which was stolen from a farm in Swindon has now been reunited with its owners after police used a tracker to hunt it down,

The bike was taken from an outbuilding in Foxhill during the early house of April 7, and the owner believed that he would never see his bike again.

But thanks to a tracker which was fitted on the quadbike, Wiltshire Police officers were able to trace the vehicle back to Carters Hill in Binfield, where they found it hidden behind some fence panels.

A man in his 20s was arrested at the scene on suspicion of theft and drunk driving.

"The theft of heavy machinery is a considerable problem and is sometimes the result of organised crime," said Inspector Andy Lemon.

"These thefts are often from farms, woodland and domestic rural locations as well as building sites, and range from sit-on mowers and quad bikes up to very large plant and construction machinery.

"I would urge people to consider installing a tracker on your farm property so should the worst happen, you’ll be able to see where it’s gone."

The man who was arrested on suspicion of theft and drunk driving has now been released on bail.
