A football club and a supermarket branch in Swindon are among the latest establishments to receive food hygiene ratings of three or lower.

Highworth Town Football Club was given a rating of three out of five on April 17, with ‘generally satisfactory’ food hygiene and safety, and confidence in the management.

‘Generally satisfactory’ means ‘some non-compliance with statutory obligations and industry codes of recommended practice’.

The football club is classed as a pub, bar or nightclub by the Food Standards Agency.

The club could not be reached for comment at the time of publication.

Also receiving a score of three was Costcutter on Wingate Parade, Pinehurst on April 18.

The retailer’s structural compliance and confidence in management were only generally satisfactory.

This includes cleanliness, layout, and the condition of the structure.

At the time of publication, the manager was not present to provide comment.

Christ the King Afro Caribbean Store, selling Afro-Caribbean groceries on Commercial Road scored two on April 11.

The owner said: “I wasn’t well. I was going to hospital every week so and I was quite stressed. I had some sickness and it was quite serious.

“It was quite difficult for me so I wasn’t actually getting enough time to sort things out.”

She said they had made the necessary changes since recovering, and was expecting to be re-inspected at the end of the week.
