A car retailer group has walked away from a national awards ceremony with a haul of honours.

Waylands, the operator of Waylands Volvo Swindon, on Great Western Way, swept the board at the Automotive Management Awards 2024, claiming four awards.

The company was named Retailer of the Year and Dealer Group of the Year, as well as Online Consumer Experience of the Year and Franchised Dealership of the Year at Waylands Volvo Oxford.

The company won the Dealer Group of the Year award for the fifth year in a row.

This accolade is a nod to the company's continued commitment to ensuring excellence in automotive retail.

The judges applauded the retailer’s leadership team, noting they “brilliantly manage” a “complex” multi-brand dealer group, while making strategic investment decisions in facilities and systems to guide their team through a rapidly changing sector.

Since opening in 2017, Waylands has defined itself as a customer-centric family business.

It represents Volvo, Kia, MG, and Polestar across nine locations in the Thames Valley.

The retailer also picked up the Online Consumer Experience of the Year award, for which the judges applauded Waylands’ focus and achievements on digital sales.

They acknowledged the group’s continued investment in digital capabilities to allow customers to seek support and advice online, outside of the showroom’s hours or to assist the customer journey at any stage of the buying process.

John O’Hanlon, CEO at Waylands, said he was "delighted" with the company's success.

He continued: "We are delighted to have been named as Retailer of the Year and to have Dealer of the Year for the fifth consecutive time is truly fantastic.

"Online Consumer Experience of the Year recognises the significant investment to adapt our approach to new customer buying needs, whilst Franchised Dealership of the Year shows we continue to do this alongside class-leading physical retail environments.

"2023 remained a challenging year for UK business, yet despite this, we have continued to provide a premium and tailored service for our customers.

"A huge congratulations to our wonderful teams, it’s thanks to the hard work and dedication of everyone across our businesses and brand partners that we’re celebrating these wins."

The awards ceremony was held at Westminster Bridge Hotel in London on May 2.
