Police have arrested a man following a 'serious sexual assault' which saw forensic teams take over a Swindon car park.
The incident took place in Damas Lane car park in Old Town during the early hours of the morning on Sunday, June 30, and police cordons were set up around the area throughout the day on Sunday.
After extensive enquiries, Wiltshire Police has now confirmed that a man in his 20s was arrested on Sunday evening on suspicion of rape.
The man has now been taken into custody at Gablecross for questioning.
"The cordon has now been lifted but enquiries will continue," said a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police.
"We take reports of this nature extremely seriously and the victim is currently being supported by specialist officers.
