A bakery business in Swindon is going from strength to strength.

Sugar Shack, which has a store at the Orbital Shopping Centre, has announced that it is expanding.

In a post on the business's Facebook page, owners Dean and Elly Vitale-Ireland confirmed that a new building had been secured.

The new Westmead Industrial Estate unit, lovingly referred to as 'Number 8' is being turned into the main bakery, from which all of the baked goods that supply the store, as well as the wholesale, postal delivery and event sides as well.

They said: "We have previously spoken about a few exciting upcoming projects and now we can finally reveal the first one to you of Number 8.

"This expansion allows us to expand our ranges & offerings, allows our amazing team to deliver a better service in-store and finally we will be able to produce more seating!

"We would like to say a huge thank you to all our customers first and foremost for continuing to support us in each move we make. You really are more appreciated than you will ever know.

"Secondly, we wouldn’t be able to do this without such a great, hardworking team behind us, our jobs definitely aren’t the easiest at times but you all show up and continue to work hard."

With the Sugar Shack team working hard behind the scenes to get 'Number 8' ready, the monthly market at the Orbital Shopping Centre that had been introduced in February needed to be put on the back burner.

This led to its last-minute cancellation in June, with the owners explaining that the decision was made to postpone the market because of this.

They said: "We have been focussing on getting our new bakery up and running in Westmead.

"This takes a lot of effort, resources and of course, staff. We don't have the manpower to do both as of currently.

"Although we understand this is disappointing news, as a lot of you look forward to the market. We will be back in July as normal and better than ever."
