You could say there is something for everyone in this centuries-old house 30 minutes from Swindon.

With history for scholars, a river in the garden for cooling off and set among 112 acres of land, Moor Mill Farmhouse is “a warm and welcoming family home”.

It is also a rare opportunity to look inside as the Uffington farm is on sale for the first time since 1968 for £2,850,000.

Agent, Waymark, says: “The lovely thatched chalkstone and red brick Grade II Listed farmhouse has great charm, retaining a number of appealing period features, evolving over the years to become a warm and welcoming family home.”

This includes two reception rooms with old fireplaces, huge original timber in the ceiling and rugs lining the floor.

The kitchen is flagstoned with an Aga cooker, tiling and a rustic wooden table and chairs. It is a “blend of old and new” refitted 8 years ago.

Upstairs there are up to 4 bedrooms with two bathrooms and a separate cloakroom. “An appealing second little staircase winds back down to the kitchen”, writes Waymark.

While the inside is cosy and warm looking, the outside offers a place for warmer days with the garden sloping down to Uffington Brook.

The brook runs across a section of the farm before joining Rosey Brook, the early section of what becomes the River Ock.

Flowers grow around the stream, with a bench set on the hill in front of the house to admire the “wide-ranging views”.

There is also a conservatory set on a stone patio at the back of the house, which is roofed in thatch which is traditional of the area.

This is a farmhouse and the owners used to run a dairy farm before retiring in 1995. The farm buildings surround the house though it is not known what they are used for now.

As part of the farmland are around 8.5 acres of woodland, some of it old and some new.

Uffington itself is about a mile away with a “traditional” public house and a well-equipped village store.

The pub, The Fox and Hounds, is well-reviewed with 4.5 stars on Google praising a good breakfast and Sunday roast after a damp walk.

On TripAdvisor it is ranked the best restaurant in Uffington - and the only one too.
