Day four
Our laziness was punished with an early morning, for it was Easter Sunday and Church began at 9.30am. As is traditional in France, we were late! The main reason for this was the short detour to the boulangerie that our host decided was necessary to buy croissants. After an incomprehensible church service and a hasty breakfast it was time to take a visit to the nearby seaside resort of St Nazaire. Apparently the beach, at 9km, is the longest in Europe. Despite the rain, the number of intrepid beach goers still meant us sitting in a traffic jam along the seafront, but at least we were warm and dry watching the crazy kite surfers. This was followed by a tour of the nearby towns, notably Géronde, famed for its sea salt, where we stopped to eat pancakes (again).
Day Five
Easter Monday was spent wondering around the botanical gardens of Nantes. It rained again.
