I have been having a few "difficulties" at school with Jordan this week. I had the dreaded "Can I have a word please?" from his teacher, when I went to pick him up on Wednesday.

Jordan was red in the face and tearful, he had obviously had a paddy. It turned out that as part of their history topic, he was asked to write a letter, pretending to be a second world war evacuee writing home. The assignment was relatively simple and his class teacher had sufficiently prepared the class for the task. Unfortunately though Jord decided he didn't want to play ball.

He spent the whole time messing around and not bothering to do the task. So, he was asked to do the task in golden time (special time where children get to choose to do fun activities.) Again he didn't bother! So his teacher asked if I could do it at home with him.

We did the task at home and then this weekend I set an additional task for him. I asked him to write a diary entry for a 9 year old evacuee, named Tom who had been evacuated along with his little brother, to a farm in Devon, during the war. He really got into it! He even asked if he could type it up on the computer :) I thought it rather good so decided to post it here. This one's for you Mrs B!
