JAMES Wood reckons nerves will help him in the grand final of Swindon Talent 08.

The 13-year-old won through to the Advertiser’s talent search with a dazzling performance of Elton John’s Can You Feel The Love Tonight, at the Purton Carnival.

Now, with the final just weeks away, James says he can feel the nerves starting to build.

“I think in events like this it is important to show some nerves,” said James.

“It’s also very natural to feel some nerves. If I wasn’t feeling any nerves I think those behind me would probably be a little bit worried.

“But I am feeling confident about the competition.

“When it comes to the final I suppose I’ll want to do the same song because it was my strongest song.

“I have looked at some of the videos on the Adver’s website and it is clear that it is a strong competition.

“There are a lot of people out there with a lot of talent which, thanks to this competition, is now starting to be recognised.

“But I’m really up for it. And I like this competition I think it’s a good chance for people to show what they can do.”

The final of Swindon Talent ‘08 is at the Arts Centre, in Devizes Road, at 7pm on Saturday, September 20.

Tickets are £7.50, or £5 concessions, from the box office on 01793 614837.
