OLD Town Festival talent 08 winner Elliott Watling is rehearsing hard in the run-up to the event’s grand final.

“The nerves are there because I’m still thinking about which song I’ll sing on the big day,” said Elliott, 14, of Covingham.

“Deciding which song I’ll tackle is a big issue.”

Elliott won through to the events final 15 with his performance of Heartbeat by Scouting For Girls.

Since then he has been carefully listening to songs in the charts to see if there is anything else that catches his ear which he could perform instead.

And now with just under two weeks to go the pressure is on.

“Since I won through I have looked at quite a few of the videos of the other competitors and having seen them I think it’s going to be a close competition,” he said.

“Because of that I am getting some practice in. And wherever I am I make sure I have music playing.

“If I’m at home, if I’m out with my mates or wherever, I’ll be constantly thinking about what I’m going to do and getting in the rehearsal.”

The grand final of Swindon Talent 08 is at the Arts Centre in Devizes Road at 7pm on Saturday, September 20.

Tickets are £7.50 (£5 concessions) from the box office on 01793 614837.
