FIREFIGHTERS are currently dealing with a chemical incident at Ridgeway School.
A science experiment involving sulphuric acid and copper oxide led to an amount of sulphur dioxide gas being released.
A total of 90 staff and students are currently being cared for by firefighters, ambulance personnel and a doctor, with two students taken to the Great Western Hospital for further checks.
Fire appliances from Swindon, Westlea and Stratton, together with specialist units from Stratton and Swindon, are at the scene and firefighters in breathing apparatus and chemical protection suits are ensuring that the building is safe.
