Several schools in the Swindon area are closed this morning, leaving some parents angry.

They include: Nova Hreod, The Ridgeway School, Gorse Hill Primary and Infant, Holy Rood Infant and Junior School, Seven Fields Primary School, Bradon Forest School, Lydiard Millicent Primary School, Crowdys Hill School, Wootton Bassett School and Greenmeadow Primary.

One mum, whose two children go to St Catherine's Primary School, was left frustrated after receiving a phone call from the school saying it was partially open. "The school phoned me to say that it was open for some classes, but not others," she said. "So I decided to keep both of them off, it is ridiculous that the weather can cause such havoc."

Another mother, whose 13-year-old attends Kingsdown School, said: "I'm lucky - my son goes to Kingsdown, so it's not affected me. But if the school had shut, I wouldn't have been able to go to work. It's ridiculous - they should make more of an effort to keep the schools open."
