POLICE are reporting that although there have been a few incidents on Swindon roads - drivers are largely heeding their warnings.

The force are reporting that although there have been a number of minor collisions overnight there have been no significant incidents.

Superintendent Matt Pullen said: “Everyone is aware that the weather is freezing with icy patches on roads. Thankfully it seems that the vast majority of motorists have adapted to the difficult driving conditions and are observing the advice from ourselves and other agencies.”

“The force has continued to function normally and so far all our essential staff have reported for duty. Our information is that all major roads are in use although understandably traffic is moving slowly. Ice remains the main problem and I advise motorists and other road users to follow the advice we issued last evening including extra care for neighbours who are elderly or vulnerable.”
