JAMIE Cox will face by far the toughest test of his professional career next week after a late change of opponent.

The Swindon southpaw was scheduled to fight Ghanaian Isaac Quartey on the Fright Night card next Friday (February 13), but he has been replaced by Yorkshireman Jason ‘The Rocket’ Rushton.

The 25-year-old Rushton has won 18 of his 26 pro fights, easily the best record of any Cox opponent to date - although he has lost five of his last six bouts after branching out of his native Doncaster and on to the national stage.

It remains a step up in class for Cox, 22, who aims to fight for a British title by the end of the year.

The bout takes place at the Oasis Leisure Centre in Swindon and is part of a televised card backed by the town’s own KM Promotions.

Commonwealth light-heavyweight champion Nathan Cleverly will headline the show, with British light-heavyweight king Dean Francis and local fighters Marlon Reid and Ben Harding also on the bill.
