SWINDON people could have been forgiven for thinking that Diana Dors was alive and kicking – as self-proclaimed number one fan and look-a-like Naomi Polley visited town.

Naomi, from Sunderland, made the trip down to Swindon on Tuesday to find out more about her idol’s birthplace and to visit the film star’s statue at Cineworld, Shaw Ridge.

“I really like Swindon,” said Naomi, 21.

“I love everything about Diana Dors.

“She was a real film star and legend and it’s been great finding out more about the town she comes from.”

Naomi has been a Diana impersonator for the last year and claims she is constantly stopped in her native Sunderland by fans thinking she could be a relative of the blonde bombshell.

“I get a lot of looks and I’ve been asked to pose for photos in the street as well,” she said.

The original British sex symbol was born Diana Mary Fluck in Swindon on October 23, 1931.

In her day she was considered the English equivalent of the blonde bombshells of Hollywood.

Although many fans have claimed her acting ability was never utilised as much as it should have been, her success was such that, aged 20, she was the youngest registered owner of a Rolls Royce in the UK.

“I love that I look like her,” said Naomi.

“And I’d love to one day make a career out of being a look-a-like.

“Swindon has been very welcoming and I’ll definitely be back in the future to find out more.”
