THROUGHOUT this spell of unprecedented severe weather conditions Public agencies in Wiltshire and Swindon have been working together in an effort to minimise the impact on the public.
The extended spell of cold weather has depleted the county's salt supplies and only strategic routes in the county will be salted over the next few days.
Additional supplies of salt are now being moved into the county but the advice to the public is not to travel unless absolutely necessary, and if they do drive to assume that roads have not been treated and will be very icy.
Family and neighbours are asked to pay particular attention to the elderly or vulnerable and to only call the emergency services when absolutely necessary.
