A FLOOD of minor injuries to Swindon’s hospital has prompted medics to ask children to wear proper gear when having fun in the snow.

The Great Western Hospital’s A&E department has been swamped with injuries including sprains, fractures, and breaks.

And nurses say the influx is at least partly due to children playing in the snow.

The hospital is coping admirably and so far has not had to cancel any minor procedures.

Teri Stevens of the communications department, said: “The majority of staff have been coming in every day – those living in the outlying areas are working from home.

“We are reminding people to take care.”
