THE Waste to Wonder warehouse is offering the public bargain-priced furniture this weekend.

Green Standards Trust is a environmental charity based in South Marston, which helps prevent redundant office furniture, and equipment worth thousands of pounds from ending up in landfill sites each year.

The office furniture available includes desks, operator chairs, meeting room chairs, filing cabinets, storage units and whiteboards.

It is a mixture of new and used items in excellent condition and is now available to the general public for a small donation of between £10 to £30.

Money raised from a sale this weekend will be used to send containers to developing countries, which in turn helps set up schools and businesses.

The next aid to be sent out by the charity called a “School in a Box” will be to Sierra Leone in west Africa next month.

“The charity redistribute these items to local people, schools, local charities and voluntary groups,” said trust co-ordinator Olivia McCann.

“The warehouse acts as a central office furniture resource centre for the local community.

“We offer a unique and dedicated service that substantially reduces landfill whilst enabling local people, community groups, educational bodies and charities to function more effectively.

“Green Standards encourages reuse as a means of protecting our environment.

“Then after the sales we can put the money into aid boxes abroad. These containers go out to India and Africa full of office furniture to kit out some of their schools.”

An open afternoon will take place on Sunday from noon to 2pm for the public to come and purchase the office furniture.

The warehouse is at Unit 7, Oaktree Business Centre, Hunts Rise, Spitfire Way, in the South Marston Industrial Park.
