A MUCH-loved local market has had to move premises after a drop in sales.

The Cricklade Country Market has left its former home at the town hall and is now based at The Club, in Cricklade, next to Tesco.

To celebrate the move the chairman of the town council, the town crier and a member of the national Board of Country Markets attended the inaugural event at the new site.

Treasurer Anne Garnett said: “Our sales had dipped a bit and we also wanted a site in a more central position. The first market at the club went well and we are all feeling quite confident for the future.”

The market sells seasonal plants and vegetables, home baked cakes and pies, preserves and pickles, as well as gifts and cards.

The next event will be on February 27, between 9am and 11am.
