Leisure Leagues – Europe’s largest organisers of small-sided football, are about to launch three brand new leagues in Swindon.

The leagues will take place at the Next Generation Club, and as the organisers are waiving the usual £25 joining fee, and all new teams will even receive a free team kit.

Leisure Leagues General Manager Chris Rowntree commented: “We run leagues right across the country and although most of the teams come from local amateur clubs, the majority of our teams are simply made up of work colleagues, pub teams, or groups of friends. This means that the standard can be very varied but we will be providing different divisions for different standards so everybody is given the opportunity to play a competitive game of football once a week with the chance of winning prizes.

Leagues will run on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays each week, and both the winners and runners up will receive gold or silver trophies for each individual player, with the bottom team in the division receiving a silver-plated wooden spoon! In addition to this, there will be awards for Player of The Season as well as a Magnum of Champagne for the winning team.

There has been a lot of interest already for the new leagues and I would urge any teams that are thinking about entering to do so as soon as possible as places will be very limited.”

Chris added: “We already run successful leagues throughout the UK and are certain that the new leagues in Swindon will be just as popular as the others that are already running.”

As well as the free entry and kit, all matches are refereed by a UKIFF qualified official and all equipment will be provided.

Chris said: “We take care of everything. All people need to do is turn up and pay the match fee.”

The only cost for teams is the match fee per team per week. However, Leisure Leagues is committed to investing all its profits into charities and environmentally sustainable projects. A fact that Chief Executive David Leone is proud of.

Mr Leone admitted: “Groups of mates enjoying a fun, competitive game with us has been what we are about since 1978.

“We are proud of our role within the community. It is very important that local people enjoy the games with us. We see it as key that we give something back to the areas where our leagues take place.”
