AN ECO-HERO and entrepreneur has reaped huge rewards since the Adver featured his innovative idea.

In July, Faizcy Hope-Lumley, from Hook, near Wootton Bassett, went live with his website software, www.energytariff.co.uk – which allows people to calculate how much money they are spending on running home appliances.

He says that since the Adver reported the story, his website hits has risen by 40 per cent – and is now beating out web-giants like moneysuper- market.com in key areas, including lingering times.

“After the article was published I got calls from the Sunday Times, Guardian and the Mirror,” said the 33-year-old.

“It has been amazing I have never worked so hard but people are really supporting us.”

Faizcy said the business has also been boosted by meetings with four major energy suppliers, which are interested in the software’s ability, not only save people cash – but also the world’s resources.

He added: “We are seeing people save hundreds of pounds with very little effort.

“One lady, from Old Town, wrote me an email saying she saved £482 after completing an 10 minute on-line audit, she changed her power company and has altered her washing habits – that’s all.

“In a recession those savings are vital.”

The Adver will be highlighting green issues for the next two weeks, while world leaders meet in Copenhagen, Denmark, as part of an international drive to secure a deal on climate change.

Faizcy, who hopes to roll out websites in countries including Italy, France, Germany and America in the New Year, said to mark the climate summit he will be publishing bi-weekly reports about the countries working towards a global climate deal, as opposed to those blocking the process .

He added: “I think it is important to fight for green issues.

“But most of all I want to tell the average person that this is not only about the environment, it’s about the cost benefit – people can save huge amounts of money through home economics.

“If I could send one message to people I would say think green today and you will save money tomorrow.”

Faizcy said one of the most surprising request he has received so far has been by the Governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger, who has been receiving information from Faizcy in the lead up to the summit.

In terms of raw numbers the website has attracted 50,000 people over the past few months.
