St John Ambulance in Wiltshire is appealing for people to come forward with real-life stories of how first aid has helped them.

The first aid charity, which trains hundreds of thousands of people in life saving first aid skills every year, wants to hear how first aid, from stemming severe bleed to putting someone in the recovery position, has made a difference to the people of Wiltshire.

Helen Pearson, of St John Ambulance Wiltshire, said: “Every year in Wiltshire we train 3,500 people through our first aid courses.

“We sometimes hear from people who have been saved from choking or treated at the scene of a road accident by first aiders, but we’re keen to build up a fuller picture of how people in Wiltshire are benefiting from a knowledge of simple first aid.

“We know how important first aid is and believe no one should suffer from the lack of a trained first aider.

“Real-life examples of skills which have saved lives will help us bring that message home to people who might be considering whether learning first aid would be beneficial.”

The charity hosts training courses in Swindon, Devizes, Corsley, and Salisbury, including first aid, resuscitation, and life support.

It also offers training tailored to first aid for sport, motorcyclists, activity coaches and families.
