The community Shop and Library will celebrate its first anniversary with a reception on Thursday 22nd April. It is one year since the library was saved from closure by amalgemating the shop with the library.

Putting the two operations into one building has meant that there is now no danger of losing the library and the extra people coming to the combined premises has boosted the income for the shop.

The whole operation is run by volunteers from the local community with all of the money raised going back to the community. So far since xmas we have donated over £3,000 into organisations in East Walcot with more to come.

If you think you would like to help in either the shop or the library just come along any day except Wednesday between 9.30am and 1.00pm and ask for Cllr Peter Mallinson. Any volunteers a very welcome.

We will put some photos into our next article to show you what is available, both in the shop and in the library.
