Jeremy Pelczer, the CEO of Thames Water, is to take up the additional role of managing director of Thames Water Utilities, the company's UK regulated business, serving 13 million customers across London and the Thames Valley.
The appointment follows the decision to sell Thames Water and American Water.
Both sales transactions are targeted to be completed during 2007.
As head of the company's UK Utility business, Mr Pelczer succeeds Werner Boettcher, who has served as MD since January 2005.
Mr Boettcher, who remains a director on the board of RWE Thames Water plc, is transferring to lead the company's portfolio of international businesses outside Europe and America.
