TWO amateur photographers from Wiltshire have been focusing on images of travel as part of a national competition.

Jon Bunston, an operations manager from Great Somerford, near Brinkworth, and Paul Strawson, a sales manager from Mile Elm, near Calne, were highly commended after representing the county in one of the country's biggest travel photography competitions.

The pair beat off more than 4,000 entrants to get into the final of the competition run by Wanderlust magazine.

Mr Bunston, was commended for his picture of a traditional fishing boat, which he took in the Vietnamese city of Hoi An, submitted in the action category of the contest.

Mr Strawson's photo of a Burmese fisherwoman asleep on her boat ensured that he was highly commended in the people category.

Picture editor of the magazine, Tor McIntosh, said: "Every year we have been amazed at the quality of prints that amateur photographers around the country are producing and every year it just keeps on getting better and better."

Both images will be exhibited at Destinations 2006 travel show at the NEC Birmingham from March 3 to March 5.
