A BOAT being built with the help of two Swindon firms is to appear at the Royal International Air Tattoo.

Quicksilver, which builders hope will return the world water speed record back to the UK, will be appearing at the show as part of its speed theme.

Swindon-based wiring company Kaliber and electronics firm IS-Rayfast have set up teams to help build key components for the jet-powered boat, which is set to take to Coniston Water in Cumbria for low-speed testing this autumn.

The boat will join hundreds of aircraft on display at the show at RAF Fairford on July 15 and 16.

It has been confirmed that around 170 aircraft will be taking part in this year's show.
