CLIP provides learning and social activities in the area of Penhill, Swindon. Since 2002 it has succeeded in bringing a range of adult learning opportunities to the neighbourhood. It is based at the John Moulton Hall on Penhill Drive, where there is an IT Learning Centre, a local library and a community hall.
Variety of learning opportunities open to all
CLIP offers a variety of courses here and encourages others to run clubs and events as well. New College provide computer courses on two mornings a week. CLIP runs Literacy, Numeracy and ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) courses each week. Two fitness classes take place weekly. Courses on Food Safety, First Aid Cookery, Confidence and Job Workshops take place from time to time. Not only are most of these courses free but there are also supported by free crèche facilities. There is also a weekly Computer Drop In one evening a week.
Food for the stomach and the mind
A Lunch Club for older residents meets weekly and a community cafe is open on Monday mornings. Both are run by local volunteers. Several customers go through to do sessions elsewhere in the building. Alongside all this, CLIP is running a coaching scheme which helps people weigh up their situation and set fresh goals.
