FOR the first time in 50,000 years, visitors to the Cotswold Water Park will be able to come face to face with a woolly mammoth – well, a model of one.
The two-metre high model mini mammoth, complete with tusks and fur, will appear at the Time Travel in the Gravel event on Sunday from 10am until 4pm.
The event will feature activities and exhibitions for all the family to showcase amazing finds from the past, discovered in this area through gravel extraction.
From awesome ammonites to a 1.8m long dinosaur leg bone and for the first time on public display, a rare and beautifully preserved Palaeolithic flint hand axe found in a local gravel pit, the displays will have something to interest everyone.
Time Travel in the Gravel takes place at the Four Pillars Hotel, in South Cerney, and entry costs £1 per person. For more information log on to www.waterpark.org
