A LITTLE boy has been left heartbroken after a thief pinched his birthday present from the garden shed and then lost it.

When Mckenzie Burberry, six, of Pinehurst, got home from Gorse Hill Infants School on Thursday he found that the green BMX bike he was given for his birthday a few months earlier was gone.

His mother, Emma O’Leary, 26, said the thief has owned up but it has been stolen from the place he hid it, down the side of McDonald’s.

She said: “The crime in this area is bad. All I hope is that Mckenzie can get his bike back.”

She said Mckenzie was devastated when he found out.

“I picked him up from school straight after work. The gate was wide open when we got back so I knew it was gone before I went in there,” she said.

“He was with me when we discovered it had gone, and he was absolutely devastated. It’s absolutely gutting to think somebody out there could do that to a child.

“He just wants his bike back.”

The bike, which Emma bought from Swindon Cycles for £110, was taken between 8.45am and 3.15pm on Thursday.

It is a Real mini BMX - MX16, mostly green with some black, front suspension, stand, and rear mini stunt pegs.

She gave it to him for his sixth birthday last May and Mckenzie plays on it often.

“He went to the shop and picked it and chose all the little bits. All the stunt pegs and suspension, it’s quite a distinctive bike,” she said.

Anyone who knows where the bike is should contact Wiltshire Police on 0845 408 7000 or phone Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
