Prospect Hospice wants daredevils to help raise vital funds.

Parachute for Prospect – which takes place on May 22 and September 11 at Redlands Airfield, in Wanborough – will see people being sponsored to take part in a tandem skydive from 10,000ft.

The parachute days have proved so popular during the last few years that the charity has organised three days this year – and an event planned for March has already sold out.

Event organiser Julie Brogan said: “We get a fantastic response to all our parachute days, but we’d love to see some new faces taking part and raising money for us.

“I’m sure there’s plenty of people out there who don’t know that we put on these events and I’m saying to them ‘why not get in touch with us?’ “For anyone who’s nervous, rest assured that all the instructors are fully qualified and highly experienced and full training will be given on the day “All you have to do is enjoy the thrill of freefalling through the skies.

“There’s only two things you need to do to begin with – register with us for a £25 fee, and start getting sponsored.

“Since 2009, our parachute days have raised more than £30,000, which is amazing considering this is all just through participants being sponsored and being brave enough to take part.”

Previous events have seen people aged 16 to 70 take part.

Julie said: “It really is open to anyone. It’s an incredible day and you’re raising money for a very good cause.

“However, we are limited to around 30 spaces for each day, and, because these are really popular days, I’d advise booking early.”

Each year Prospect Hospice needs £5m to deliver its care and services within the community, 70 per cent of which it needs to raise itself. To take part in Parachute for Prospect, contact Julie on 01793 816161 or email fundraising&events@prospect-hospice.net.
